UDON is Japanese noodle made from wheat flour.
There are a lot of variation of UDON dishes in Japan,
such as KITSUNE UDON, TANUKI UDON, TIKARA UDON, TENPURA UDON...
NIKOMI UDON means UDON cooked with soup and ingredients all together,
which is one of easiest dishes to prepare.
NIKOMI UDON is also balanced diet.
Vegetables, protain and carbohydrates could be got at once!.

1. Precook
Slice onion and cut other vegetables.
2. Boil soup
Put water, fish powder, soysauce, MIRIN, SAKE into a pan and mix them.
3. Put vegetables into soup
Put onion and welsh onion into boiled soup and cook for a while.
4. Put chicken and UDON
Put chicken and UDON into the soup.
5. Cook chicken and UDON
Cover the lid and cook until the chicken gets cooked.
6. Crack an egg
Crack an egg into the pan and cover again and cook as you like. Some Japanese like almost raw egg, however, eggs seem to be cooked well in other countries, don't they?
7. Serve with red pepper
Serve with minced red pepper.
Any ingredients will do, such as carrot, radish, spinatch, fish, seaweed and so on. Feel free to make your original UDON! |
